Sympa
Sympa (Systeme de Multi-Postage Automatique) is an open source
scalable and highly customizable modern mailing
list manager capable of handling big setups: 20.000 lists with 700,000
subscribers. It is used to automate list
management functions such as subscription, moderation and management of
archives. Sympa also manages sending of messages to the lists, and
makes it possible to reduce the load on the system.
Sympa's features include bulk mailing, service messages and
web pages defined by templates, subscriber information stored in a
RDBMS, and an external antivirus plugin. Its web front-end offers a
portal-like interface where the user can control all their list
subscriptions and administrative powers in one place (i.e. one site per
user, while Mailman, for example, creates one site per list).
Data is stored in a relational database such as MySQL,
PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
Sites can customize Web and mail templates, authentication
backends, and authorization scenarios. Dynamic mailing lists can use
multiple backends (LDAP, SQL, files, lists, or others).
