Vi IMproved Touch
Vi IMproved Touch (Vim Touch) is an open source
Android port of Vim, an advanced text editor that seeks to provide the
power of the de-facto Unix editor 'Vi', with a more complete feature
set. Vim is often called
a "programmer's editor," and so useful for programming that many
consider it an entire IDE.
Vim Touch supports the full Vim syntax, together with finger
touch gestures to help make this editor more usable on touch screens.
Features:
- Touch to scroll
- Fling to scroll
- Long press to zoom-in
- Two-fingers to delete lines ("dd") or new lines ("p")
- Single tap to send "ESC"
- Read email attachments
- Single instance to open files in vim window
- Customise font size and text color
- Choose control key
- Quick buttons
- Real Vim runtime
Verdict:
Vim Touch is a useful port of what many
programmers consider the de-facto editor, renowned for its brevity of
input. If you are not a regular Vim user, you are probably best advised
to seek one of other alternatives featured in this group test.
