Top Free Android Twitter Apps

Top Free Android Twitter Apps

The continuing rise in the popularity of social networking has been meteoric by any standards and there are no signs of this abating. One of the most popular social networking services is Twitter. Twelve months ago there were about 65 million messages (known as tweets) being made each day. Now this figure has risen to over 200 million tweets a day, contributed by 200 million users. Twitter has radically altered the way many people communicate with each other.

The vast majority of these posts are made by individuals who want to communicate and stay connected with their family, friends and work colleagues. The tweets are brief updates, consisting of 140 characters or less. However, Twitter has recently allowed users to also upload images directly to which are hosted by Photobucket, a popular image hosting and photo sharing service.

Registered users can post tweets via a web interface or from desktop applications. However, given the amount of time we spend on the move, an Android smartphone represents a great way of sharing and receiving information from others. You might be out hiking around the countryside when you spot an interesting species of animal or flora, stumble across a charming pub, or even bump into a celebrity. With an Android smartphone, you can share these experiences via Twitter with your friends in an instant, and at the same time keep up with their tweets in real time practically anywhere.

There are many different Twitter clients to choose from. To provide an insight into the quality of software that is available for the Android platform, we have compiled a list of 9 Twitter clients which make micro-blogging easier. Hopefully, there will be something of interest here for anyone who wants to tweet and also make the whole Twitter experience less overwhelming.

Let's explore the 9 Twitter clients at hand. For each application we have compiled its own portal page, a full description with an in-depth analysis of its features, screenshots, together with links to relevant resources and reviews. Start tweeting today! We give our highest recommendation to Tweetcaster and UberSocial, but all of the Twitter apps below are worth downloading.
