I have compiled a complete list of all the software packages that are installed on the Eee PC. Due to the large number of packages, this list has been divided into 6 manageable parts.

networkmonitor 1.0.28-1 This simple application install itself into the tray area and monitor network interfaces.
nfs-common 1.0.10-6 NFS support files common to client and server. Use this package on any machine that uses NFS, either as client or server. Programs included: lockd, statd, showmount, nfsstat, gssd and idmapd.
odbcinst1debian1 2.2.11-13 This package contains the libodbcinst library from unixodbc, a library used by ODBC drivers for reading their configuration settings from /etc/odbc.ini and ~/.odbc.ini. It is useful to provide this in a stand-alone package, so that all ODBC drivers in Debian can use a consistent ini library, regardless of whether applications are built with iodbc or unixodbc.
openbsd-inetd 0.20050402-6 This is a port of the OpenBSD daemon with some debian-specific features. This package does not have many bugs of netkit-inetd and supports IPv6, built-in libwrap, binding to specific addresses, UNIX domain sockets and socket buffers tuning. 2.0.4.dfsg.2-7
etch2eeepc1 is a full-featured office productivity suite that provides a near drop-in replacement for Microsoft(R) Office.

perl 5.8.8-7 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction and Report Language (Perl). An interpreted scripting language, known among some as "Unix's Swiss Army Chainsaw".
perl-base 5.8.8-7 This is a stripped down Perl with only essential libraries. To make full use of Perl, you'll want to install the `perl', `perl-modules' and optionally `perl-doc' packages which supplement this one.
perl-modules 5.8.8-7 Architecture independent Perl modules. These modules are part of Perl and required if the `perl' package is installed.
pidgin 2.0.2-0
Pidgin is a graphical, modular Instant Messaging client capable of using AIM/ICQ, Yahoo!, MSN, IRC, Jabber, Napster, Zephyr, Gadu-Gadu, Bonjour, Groupwise, Sametime, and SIMPLE all at once.

planetpenguin-racer 0.3.1-8xandros3 PlanetPenguin Racer, or ppracer as it is called for short, is a simple OpenGL racing game featuring Tux, the Linux mascot. The goal of the game is to slide down a snow- and ice-covered mountain as quickly as possible, avoiding the trees and rocks that will slow you down.
planetpenguin-racer-data 0.3.1-8xandros3 This package contains data like graphics and courses. If you want to play the game, you need to install the package planetpenguin-racer.
pmount 0.9.13-1+b1 pmount is a wrapper around the standard mount program which permits normal users to mount removable devices without a matching /etc/fstab entry. This provides a robust basis for automounting frameworks like GNOME's Utopia project and confines the amount of code that runs as root to a minimum.
poppler-utils 0.4.5-5.1 Contains pdftops (PDF to PostScript converter), pdfinfo (PDF document information extractor), pdfimages (PDF image extractor), pdftotext (PDF to text converter), and pdffonts (PDF font analyzer).
portmap 5-26 Portmap is a server that converts RPC (Remote Procedure Call) program numbers into DARPA protocol port numbers. It must be running in order to make RPC calls.
poster 19990428-8 Poster takes a one-page PostScript file and scales it to a specified size. It can tile the resulting image into multiple smaller pages that can be pasted together to form the big poster. Poster prefers EPS as its input although freer forms of PostScript are also understood.
powermonitor 1.0.0-0xandros44 PowerMonitor is a basic system tray applet that provides information about the current power status by polling in /proc/acpi. Currently it shows whether the machine is plugged in, and the charge level, in its icon, and shows more information in a tooltip. When the system is plugged in or unplugged, it will show a popup to alert the user of this.
ppp 2.4.4rel-8 The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) provides a standard way to transmit datagrams over a serial link, as well as a standard way for the machines at either end of the link (the "peers") to negotiate various optional characteristics of the link. Using PPP, a serial link can be used to transmit Internet Protocol (IP) datagrams, allowing TCP/IP connections between the peers.
pppoe 3.8-1.1 PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) is a protocol used by many ADSL Internet service providers. This package allows you to connect to those PPPoE service providers.
pptp-linux 1.7.0-2 Client for the proprietary Microsoft Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol, PPTP. Allows connection to a PPTP based VPN as used by employers and some cable and ADSL service providers.
procps 3.2.7-3 These are utilities to browse the /proc filesystem, which is not a real file system but a way for the kernel to provide information about the status of entries in its process table. (e.g. running, stopped or "zombie") Both command line and full screen utilities are provided. Ncurses is needed for the full screen utilities.
psmisc 22.3-1 This package contains three little utilities that use the proc FS: `fuser' identifies processes using files (similar to Sun's or SGI's fuser). `killall' kills processes by name, e.g. killall -HUP named. `pstree' shows the currently running processes as a tree
psutils 1.17-24 This collection of utilities is for manipulating PostScript documents. Page selection and rearrangement are supported, including arrangement into signatures for booklet printing, and page merging for n-up printing.
python 2.4.4-2 Python, the high-level, interactive object oriented language, includes an extensive class library with lots of goodies for network programming, system administration, sounds and graphics.
python-cairo 1.2.0-1 This package contains modules that allow you to use the cairo vector graphics library in Python programs.
python-central 0.5.12 This package provides support for building and installing python modules independent of the current installed Python version.
python-fuse 2.5-5+b2 This is a Python interface to FUSE.
python-glade2 2.8.6-8 Contains bindings for the glade library from use within Python. Glade makes it very easy to create a user interface. In the target application you just need to load the interface description from the .glade file instead of constructing the GUI at runtime.
python-gnome2 2.12.4-6 This archive contains modules that allow you to write GNOME programs in Python. This package contains the bindings for the new version 2.0 of that desktop environment.
python-gnome2-desktop 2.14.0-3 Contains modules that allow you to write GNOME programs in Python.
python-gnome2-extras 2.14.3-1 Contains modules that allow you to write GNOME programs in Python. This package contains the bindings that are not included in the GNOME desktop.
python-gtk2 2.8.6-8 Contains modules that allow you to use GTK+ in Python programs. This package contains the bindings for the version 2.0 of that toolkit.
python-imaging 1.1.5-11 The Python Imaging Library (PIL) adds an image object to your Python interpreter. You can load images from a variety of file formats, and apply a rich set of image operations to them.
python-libgmail The libgmail project is a pure Python binding to provide access to Google's Gmail web-mail service. The library comes with a couple of examples which can archive Gmail messages to the mailbox format, use Gmail as SMTP server, access the account via POP3, and browse attachments with FTP.
python-minimal 2.4.4-2 A minimal subset of the Python language (default version)
python-numeric 24.2-7 The Numeric Extensions to Python (NumPy) add powerful multi-dimensional array objects to the wonderful general purpose programming language Python. These new objects give Python the number crunching power of numeric languages like Matlab and IDL while maintaining all of the advantages of the general-purpose programming language Python.
python-pyorbit 2.0.1-5 A Python language binding for the ORBit2 CORBA implementation
python-qt3 3.16-1.2 Python binding module that allows use of Qt X Window toolkit v3. You can use it to create portable graphics-capable scripts (there are PyQt versions for Linux, Windows and MacOS X).
python-sip4 4.4.5-4 SIP is a tool for generating bindings for C++ classes with some ideas borrowed from SWIG, but capable of tighter bindings, because it's specific to C++ and Python.
python-support 0.5.6 Contains the 'update-python-modules' script, which takes care of byte-compilation of python-only modules.
python-uno 2.0.4.dfsg.2-7
The Python-UNO bridge allows use of the standard API with the python scripting language. It additionally allows others to develop UNO components in python, thus python UNO components may be run within the process and can be called from C++ or the built in StarBasic scripting language.
python2.4 2.4.4-3 Python is an interactive high-level object-oriented language (version 2.4) Version 2.4 of the high-level, interactive object oriented language, includes an extensive class library with lots of goodies for network programming, system administration, sounds and graphics.
python2.4-minimal 2.4.4-3 A minimal subset of the Python language (version 2.4). This package contains the interpreter and some essential modules. It can be used in the boot process for some basic tasks.
python2.5 2.5-5 Python is an interactive high-level object-oriented language (version 2.5). Version 2.5 of the high-level, interactive object oriented language, includes an extensive class library with lots of goodies for network programming, system administration, sounds and graphics.
python2.5-minimal 2.5-5 A minimal subset of the Python language (version 2.5).
rdate 1.4-8 Rdate displays and sets the local date and time from the host name or address given as the argument. It uses the RFC868 protocol which is usually implemented as a built-in service of inetd(1).
rdesktop 1.5.0-1 rdesktop is an open source client for Windows NT/2000 Terminal Server, capable of natively speaking its Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) in order to present the user's NT/2000 desktop. Unlike Citrix ICA, no server extensions are required.
readline-common 5.2-2 The GNU readline library aids in the consistency of user interface across discrete programs that need to provide a command line interface.
refblas3 1.2-8 Basic Linear Algebra Subroutines 3, shared library
resolvconf 1.37-1xandros4 Resolvconf is a framework for keeping track of the system's information about currently available nameservers. It sets itself up as the intermediary between programs that supply nameserver information and programs that use nameserver information. Examples of programs that supply nameserver information are: ifupdown, DHCP clients, the PPP daemon and local nameservers. Examples of programs that use this information are: DNS caches, resolver libraries and the programs that use them.
ruby 1.8.2-1 Ruby is the interpreted scripting language for quick and easy object-oriented programming. It has many features to process text files and to do system management tasks (as in perl). It is simple, straight-forward, and extensible.
ruby1.8 1.8.5-4 This package provides version 1.8 series of Ruby.
samba 3.0.24-6xandros3 The Samba software suite is a collection of programs that implements the SMB/CIFS protocol for unix systems, allowing you to serve files and printers to Windows, NT, OS/2 and DOS clients. This protocol is sometimes also referred to as the LanManager or NetBIOS protocol.
This package contains all the components necessary to turn your Debian GNU/Linux box into a powerful file and printer server.

Currently, the Samba Debian packages consist of the following:

samba - LanManager-like file and printer server for Unix.
samba-common - Samba common files used by both the server and the client.
smbclient - LanManager-like simple client for Unix. swat - Samba Web Administration Tool
samba-doc - Samba documentation.
samba-doc-pdf - Samba documentation in PDF format.
smbfs - Mount and umount commands for the smbfs (kernels 2.2.x and above). libpam-smbpass - pluggable authentication module for SMB/CIFS password database libsmbclient - Shared library that allows applications to talk to SMB/CIFS servers

winbind: Service to resolve user and group information from Windows NT servers
python-samba: Python bindings that allow access to various aspects of Samba
samba-common 3.0.24-6xandros3 This package contains the common files that are used by both the server (provided in the Samba package) and the client (provided in the smbclient package).
scim 1.4.4-7asus4 Smart Common Input Method (SCIM) is an input method (IM) platform. Input methods are needed to enter complex characters in many non-latin languages. SCIM provides a common platform for various plugin modules and independent IM programs, as well as a set of modules and programs on its own. It is highly modularized and exposes abstract interfaces, so that plugin modules with different functions can easily communicate with each other. The currently supported module types are configuration, IM engine, front end, filter, and setup GUI.
scim-chewing 0.3.1-1eeepc1 SCIM (Smart Common Input Method) is an input method (IM) platform.
scim-modules-table 0.5.6-2eeepc1 This package is the generic tables IM engine for SCIM. With data tables this module can provides input method for various languages.
scim-pinyin 0.5.0-2eeepc1 This package provides smart pinyin IM engine for SCIM. It includes the plugin modules and the data files. With this module you can use the smart pinyin input method for Chinese.
scim-tables-zh 0.5.6-2eeepc1 This package contains SCIM table-based input method data for Chinese. Currently the provided tables are: Array30, CangJie, CangJie3, CangJie5, Cantonese, CantonHK, CNS11643, Dayi3, EZ-Big, Erbi, Erbi-QS, Jyutping, Quick, Simplex, Stroke5, Wubi, Wu, ZhuYin, ZhuYin-Big, and Ziranma.
scrollkeeper 0.3.14-13 A free electronic cataloging system for documentation.
sed 4.1.5-1 sed reads the specified files or the standard input if no files are specified, makes editing changes according to a list of commands, and writes the results to the standard output.
setserial 2.17-43 Set and/or report the configuration information associated with a serial port. This information includes what I/O port and which IRQ a particular serial port is using.
sgml-base 1.26 Creates the SGML infrastructure directories and provides SGML catalog file support in compliance with the current Debian SGML Policy draft
sgml-data 2.0.3 Contains basic XML and SGML data shared and used by multiple packages. The package provides the technical format (Document Type Definition, or DTD) of all major versions of HTML. It also includes standard character entity definitions which describe spacial characters or international characters, as well as other standard miscellany used by other SGML and XML packages.
shared-mime-info 0.19-2 This is the shared MIME-info database from the X Desktop Group. It is required by any program complying to the Shared MIME-Info Database spec, which is also included in this package.
skype Skype is a little piece of software that lets you make free calls to anyone else on Skype, anywhere in the world. And even though the calls are free, they are really excellent quality.
smbclient 3.0.24-6xandros3 This package contains some client components of the Samba suite. In particular it includes the command line utilities smbclient, smbtar, and smbspool. If you want to mount shares exported from Microsoft Windows machines or a Samba server you must install the smbfs package.
smbfs 3.0.24-6xandros3 mount and umount commands for the smbfs (for kernels >= than 2.2.x)
smplayer 0.5.21-0xandros24 SMPlayer intends to be a complete front-end for MPlayer, from basic features like playing videos, DVDs, and VCDs to more advanced features like support for MPlayer filters and more.
sox 12.17.9-1 SOX (SOund eXchange) is a generic utility for translating sound files from one format to another, possibly performing a sound effect at the same time. Sox is able to handle formats like .ogg (vorbis), mp3, wav, aiff, voc, snd, au, gsm and several more.
stalonetray 0.6.5-1asus2 stalonetray is a stand-alone system tray (notification area) for X Window System/X11 (e.g. X.Org or XFree 86). It has full XEMBED support and minimal dependencies: an X11 lib only. Stalonetray works with virtually any EWMH-compliant window manager.
strace 4.5.14-2 strace is a system call tracer, i.e. a debugging tool which prints out a trace of all the system calls made by a another process/program. The program to be traced need not be recompiled for this, so you can use it on binaries for which you don't have source.
sudo 1.6.8p12-4 Sudo is a program designed to allow a sysadmin to give limited root privileges to users and log root activity. The basic philosophy is to give as few privileges as possible but still allow people to get their work done.

The Sun Java Platform Standard Edition Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 contains the Java virtual machine, runtime class libraries, and Java application launcher that are necessary to run programs written in the Java progamming language.
sun-java5-jre 1.5.0-10-3 Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 (architecture independent files). The Sun Java Platform Standard Edition Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 contains the Java virtual machine, runtime class libraries, and Java application launcher that are necessary to run programs written in the Java progamming language.
sun-java5-plugin 1.5.0-10-3 Java Plug-in enables applets written to the Java Platform 5.0 specification to be run in Mozilla and other web browsers. Java Plug-in comes with the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
svgalibg1 1.4.3-24 This package is only useful to ensure clean upgrades from old Debian releases and can be safely removed.
synaptic Synaptic is a graphical package management tool based on GTK+ and APT. Synaptic enables you to install, upgrade and remove software packages in a user friendly way.
sysklogd 1.4.1-18 Implements the system log daemon, which is an enhanced version of the standard Berkeley utility program. It is responsible for providing logging of messages received from programs and facilities on the local host as well as from remote hosts.
sysv-rc 2.86.ds1-38 Provides support for the System-V like system for booting, shutting down and changing runlevels, configured through symbolic links in /etc/rc?.d/.
sysvinit 2.86.ds1-38 Contains programs required for booting a Debian system and doing basic process management.
sysvinit-utils 2.86.ds1-38 This package contains the important System-V-like utilities. Specifically, this package includes: killall5, last, lastb, mesg, pidof, sulogin
tar 1.16-2 Tar is a program for packaging a set of files as a single archive in tar format. The function it performs is conceptually similar to cpio, and to things like PKZIP in the DOS world. It is heavily used by the Debian package management system, and is useful for performing system backups and exchanging sets of files with others.
tasksel 2.66 Tool for selecting tasks for installation on Debian systems This package provides 'tasksel', a simple interface for users who want to configure their system to perform a specific task.

tcl8.4 8.4.12-1.1 Tcl is a powerful, easy to use, embeddable, cross-platform interpreted scripting language. This package contains everything you need to run Tcl scripts and Tcl-enabled apps. This version includes thread support.
tcpd 7.6.dbs-13 These programs log the client host name of incoming telnet, ftp, rsh, rlogin, finger etc. requests. Security options are: access control per host, domain and/or service; detection of host name spoofing or host address spoofing; booby traps to implement an early-warning system.
thunderbird Mozilla Thunderbird Mail Client.
thunderbird-locale-zh-cn Chinese (Simplified) Locale package for Mozilla Thunderbird.
thunderbird-locale-zh-tw Chinese (Traditional) Locale package for Mozilla Thunderbird.
traceroute 1.4a12-21 The traceroute utility displays the route used by IP packets on their way to a specified network (or Internet) host. Traceroute displays the IP number and host name (if possible) of the machines along the route taken by the packets. Traceroute is used as a network debugging tool. If you're having network connectivity problems, traceroute will show you where the trouble is coming from along the route.

tuxpaint 0.9.16-1 Tux Paint is meant to be a simple drawing program for young children. It is not meant as a general-purpose drawing tool. It IS meant to be fun and easy to use. Sound effects and a cartoon character help let the user know what's going on, and keeps them entertained.
tuxpaint-data 0.9.16-1 This package contains sounds, images, fonts and other data for Tux Paint.
tuxpaint-stamps-default 2006.10.21-1 This package contains sounds, images and other data for Tux Paint.
tuxtype 1.5.6.dfsg1-3 TuxTyping is an educational typing tutorial game starring Tux, the Linux Penguin. The player guides Tux to eat fish which are falling from the top of the screen. Each fish has a letter written on it. When the player presses the corresponding key, Tux will position himself to eat the fish. The game is intended for children learning to type, though it does have higher difficulty levels which even experienced typists may find challenging.
tuxtype-data 1.5.6.dfsg1-3 This package contains graphics, sound, themes and wordlist files for tuxtype.
tzdata 2007b-1 Contains data that represent the history of local time for many representative locations around the globe. It is updated periodically to reflect changes made by political bodies to time zone boundaries, UTC offsets, and daylight-saving rules
ucf 2.0020 Update Configuration File: preserves user changes to config files.

unixodbc 2.2.11-13 Binaries and libraries from the unixODBC package.
unrar 3.5.4-1 Unrar can extract files from .rar archives. If you want to create .rar archives, install package rar.
unzip 5.52-9 InfoZIP's unzip program. With the exception of multi-volume archives (ie, .ZIP files that are split across several disks using PKZIP's /& option), this can handle any file produced either by PKZIP, or the corresponding InfoZIP zip program.
update-inetd 4.27-0.5 Provides a program used by other packages to automatically update /etc/inetd.conf.
usbstorageapplet 1.0.31-1 An applet to help safely remove USB storage devices.
usbutils 0.72-7 This applications show what the device tree of the USB bus looks like. It shows a graphical representation of the devices that are currently plugged in, showing the topology of the USB bus. It also displays information on each individual device on the bus.
util-linux 2.12r-19 Contains a number of important utilities, most of which are oriented towards maintenance of your system. Some of the more important utilities included in this package allow you to partition your hard disk, view kernel messages, and create new filesystems.

vim-common 7.0-122+1etch2 This package contains files shared by all non GUI-enabled vim variants (vim and vim-tiny currently) available in Debian. Examples of such shared files are: manpages, common executables like vimtutor and xxd, and configuration files.
vim-tiny 7.0-122+1etch2 Vi IMproved - enhanced vi editor - compact version. This package contains a minimal version of vim compiled with no GUI and a small subset of features in order to keep small the package size.
vlan 1.9-2 user mode programs to enable VLANs on your ethernet devices This package contains the user mode programs you need to add and remove VLAN devices from your ethernet devices.
voice-command 1.0.10 First release of a voice command tool
