In its early days PCLinuxOS was a derivative of Mandriva
Linux, but over the years it has matured to become a fully
fledged
separate distribution in its own right. It is distributed as a
LiveCD, but can also be installed to a hard disk. PCLinuxOS
is primarily targeted at desktop users, and is notable for maintaining
its
own software repository, with many of its applications having been
independently packaged. There are a number of other distributions
which are derived from PCLinuxOS.
