Linux has finally come of age and is now a legitimate gaming platform. The release of quality commercial titles such as Left 4 Dead 2, Portal, and Day of Defeat bring real credibility to Linux as a first-class gaming platform. The bid to lure gamers away from Microsoft's platform has also been strengthened, in part, due to the official launch of Steam for the Linux operating system back on February 14.

  • psdim
    psdim is a small utility to be used in conjunction with pstops. It looks at the contents of a postscript document to determine the size of the printed pages. From this, it calculates the optimal placement of the pages for n-up printing. It outputs a format string suitable for processing by pstops.

    (commercial) a reliable, secure driver set providing access to a wide variety of printer models. PShop is also ideal for use with many of today's wide format printers

    a fast and easy-to-use printing tool for the Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS). You can view, delete, hold, and release print jobs or move them to another printer

    Pup is a GUI utility for maintaining your printer under Linux or other operating systems that support Gtk+, Zlib, and GNU C. If your computer is configured for printer read back, Pup additionally supports all other PJL printers (or partially, depending on the printer).

  • PyPrint
    a simple Gtk-based document printing tool written in 100% Python. It is intended to be a stand-alone application for printing selected documents to LPRng and LPR-based printer spools

    a handy LPRng printer spool manager. It is part of another project of mine, called PyPrint

    qLabels is a labels, business cards, and media covers creating and printing software.
  • rlpr

    Splix is a driver for printers that speak SPL (Samsung Printer Language). This includes printers made by Samsung and several Xerox printers.

    system-config-printer configures a CUPS server. It uses the CUPS API (bound to Python with pycups) to do this. The communication with the server is performed using IPP. As a result, it is equally able to configure a remote CUPS server as a local one.

    (commercial) TBarCode is a software bar code solution for your spool server, print server, or web server. Part of the package is a ready to use filter-application which plugs into your printer-queue.
  • Tea4CUPS
    Tea4CUPS is similar in functionality to the *nix command "tee", but in the form of a CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) backend. Tea4CUPS captures a print job's data in their final form while they are being sent to a printer (more precisely, to a CUPS backend), and at the same time allows you to dispatch these data to any number of commands.

  • TFORMer
    (commercial) TFORMer integrates your database information into free designable label- or form-layouts. This helps meet the requirements for compliance labelling for AIAG, VDA, GTL, and all upcoming specifications. TFORMer features a built-in bar code generator for all industry bar codes and 2D codes (like PDF417), so you don't need any special printer or hardware add-ons. All common label formats are available as predefined templates.
  • tixlpq
    tixlpq is a frontend (GUI) for lpq, lprm, and lpc. It supports all printers in /etc/printcap and displays their jobs in a list. The jobs from different printers are diplayed in different colors. You can select (in a combo box) one of the printers or all jobs from all printers. tixlpq features all functions for a good print management.
  • TkHTMLtidy
    TkHTMLtidy is a Tcl/Tk front-end for tidy, the W3C utility to clean up and pretty print HTML/XHTML/XML. It includes support for most of tidy's options.
  • Trueprint
    a printing program for postscript printers. It supports printing source code, such as diff-marking, line numbers, indentation levels, file and function indices, and many others
  • ULPR
    Universal LPR Client: a printing client program for the LPD, TCP (raw), and SMB protocols. It is extensible, so that additional protocols may be added, and it requires NO configuration files

    wmlpq is a Windowmaker dockapp which monitors up to 5 printqueues, allowing you to see when your print job has finally been printed.
