The welcoming hand that Valve has extended, developing a Linux native version of their Steam client and porting their back catalogue, should accelerate takeup of Linux as a real gaming platform. Maxima
Maxima is a system for the manipulation of symbolic and numerical expressions, including differentiation, integration, Taylor series, Laplace transforms, ordinary differential equations, systems of linear equations, and vectors, matrices, and tensors.     systemd is a system and service manager for Linux, compatible with SysV and LSB init scripts. systemd provides aggressive parallelization capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting services, offers on-demand starting of daemons, keeps track of processes using Linux cgroups, supports snapshotting and restoring of the system state, maintains mount and automount points and implements an elaborate transactional dependency-based service control logic
  • virt-factory
    Virt-factory manages a virtualized Linux infrastructure. It focuses on managing large numbers of virtual systems, with a focus on virtual appliances.
  • Virtual Machine Manager
    The "Virtual Machine Manager" (virt-manager for short package name) is a desktop application for managing virtual machines.
