  • Bist
Bidimensional Structures is a chemical drawing tool. It is focused on organic chemistry but it may be useful also for chemists or teacher as well. Bist support many of the formalism used to describe molecoles structures like single bond, double bond, stereospecific bond, charges, resonance arrows, lone pairs etc
  • BKchem
BKchem is a chemical drawing program written in Python that features bond-by-bond drawing, ready to use templates of common rings, editing facilities, export to SVG, OpenOffice Draw format, EPS, PDF, PNG, CML1 and CML2, Mofiles, and generation of SMILES.
  • Chemsuite
Chemsuite is 2D/3D molecular drawing and chemical reaction simulation software for Unix/Linux.
  • Chemtool
Chemtool is a small program for drawing chemical structures. Chemtool relies on transfig by Brian Smith for postscript printing and exporting files in PicTeX and EPS formats.
  • EasyChem
EasyChem is a program designed to draw chemical molecules, written under Linux and using Gtk+ 2.0.
  • Garlic
Garlic is a free molecular viewer and editor written for unix and unix clones.
  • GChemPaint
GChemPaint is a 2D chemical structures editor for the Gnome-2 desktop. GChemPaint is a multi document application and will be a bonobo server so that some chemistry could be embedded in Gnome applications such as Gnumeric and Abiword.
  • XChemEdit
(commercial) XChemEdit is a multipurpose graphics package; it can draw and edit three-dimensional chemical structures, serve as a graphical interface to the BOSS, MCPRO and popular quantum mechanics programs, display molecular orbitals and electron densities, animate vibrational modes, compute thermochemical properties, manipulate a variety of common document formats such as Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) and FrameMaker, and generate graphics for publications.
  • XDrawChem
XDrawChem is a two-dimensional molecule drawing program for Unix operating systems. It is similar in functionality to other molecule drawing programs such as ChemDraw (TM, CambridgeSoft). It can read and write MDL Molfiles, and read ChemDraw text and binary files, to allow sharing between XDrawChem and other chemistry applications, and it can create images in popular formats like PNG and EPS. XDrawChem has been tested on Linux, SGI IRIX 6.5, Sun Solaris, Mac OS X, and Windows.
