What are good command line HTTP clients?
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts is a very famous quote from Aristotle, a Greek philosopher and scientist. This quote is particularly pertinent to Linux. In my view, one of Linux's biggest strengths is its synergy. The usefulness of Linux doesn't derive only from the huge raft of open source (command line) utilities. Instead, it's the synergy generated by using them together, sometimes in conjunction with larger applications.

SoX, the swiss army knife of sound processing programs. SoX is a command line utility that can convert various formats of computer audio files in to other formats.   • ac3jack
    ac3jack is a tool for creating an AC-3 (Dolby Digital) multichannel stream from its JACK input ports. Using this tool, an AC-3 stream (up to 5.1 channels) is created in real time and either written to a file or streamed to standard output.
  • ameter
    ameter aims at giving level metering capability to Linux Alsa audio programs that do not have it, and that cannot use Jack/Meterbrige .

    JackEQ provides an easy way for JACK aware apps to tune their eq settings. Designed primarily for use in live performance particularly for DJs. Uses Gtk2 and Ladspa plugins.

    JAMin is the JACK Audio Connection Kit (JACK) Audio Mastering interface. JAMin is an open source application designed to perform professional audio mastering of stereo input streams. It uses LADSPA for digital signal processing (DSP).

    k_jack adds JACK capability to Pd.
  • Meterbridge
    Meterbridge is a software meterbridge for the UNIX based JACK audio system. It supports a number of different types of meter, rendered using the SDL library and user-editable pixmaps.
  • njconnect
    njconnect is a Curses Jack connection manager, based on naconnect by Nedko Arnaudov.
  • oss2jack
    oss2jack is a Linux kernel based approach to using OSS applications with the Jack Audio Connection Kit
  • Patchage
    Patchage is a modular patchbay for Jack audio and Alsa sequencer. It allows you to connect various audio applications together in a clear, organised way. Patchage supports LASH for session saving and restoring, so your module layouts and connections can be restored at the click of a button.
  • QARecord
    QARecord is a simple multithreaded stereo recording tool. It can record both 16 bit and 32 bit WAVs. By using a large ringbuffer for the captured data, buffer overruns are avoided. QARecord can also be used as JACK client.
  • QJackConnect
    QJackConnect is a QT based patchbay for the JACK Audio Connection Kit.
  • qjackctl
    Qjackctl is a simple Qt application to control the JACK sound server daemon, specific for the Linux Audio Desktop infrastructure. Written in C++ around the Qt3 toolkit for X11, most exclusively using Qt Designer.
  • qjackLaM
    qjackLaM is a Latency Meter for jack. There are 2 JackClients now: 1 only outputs, the other only reveives. This should cause 0 impact on Jacks graphordering concerning the other clients.
  • sauditor
    sauditor is a basic JACK-based sample auditor.
  • SilentJack
    SilentJack is a silence/dead air detector for the Jack Audio Connection Kit. It monitors the peak levels on a single JACK input port and checks to see if they are below a specified theshold.
  • Time Machine
    A simple JACK application that acts as a simple minidisc recorder.
  • xjadeo
    xjadeo: X JAck viDEO display. Tiny basic video player that receives sync information from the Jack Connection Kit. Handy for soundtrack creators.
