  • Acovel Media Player
    Acovel is a cross-platform media player (currently running on Linux and Windows). It features an intelligent algorithm that will analyze both ID3 (v1 ahd v2) tags and filenames to fill up its music collection database. Its search feature is very fast. It is currently limited to playing albums, but upcoming versions will make it a full-featured media player.
  • aylet
    aylet plays music files in the `.ay' format. These files are essentially wrappers around bits of Z80 code which play music on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128's sound hardware - either the beeper, or (eponymously) the AY-3-8912 sound chip.
  • BluePlayer
    BluePlayer is a cross-platform, simple, light sound player. The file formats it supports are uncompressed WAV, uncompressed AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, MP3, MOD, S3M, IT, and XM.
  • Deejayd
    Deejayd is a multi purpose media player that can be completely controlled through the network using XML messages. It suppports playlists, searching, and many media tags. It can playback many music and video formats using either its xine backend (recommended) or its GStreamer backend.
  • FMOD
    FMOD supports 3d sound, midi, mods, mp3, ogg vorbis, wma, aiff, recording, obstruction/occlusion, cd playback, mmx, internet streaming, dsp effects, spectrum analysis, user created samples and streams, synchronization support, ASIO, EAX 2&3, C/C++/VB/Delphi/MASM and more.
  • Fox Audio Player
    FAP is a simple and lightweight audio player distributed under GPL. It features a dirlist view, where you can browse through your disk and bookmark directories in which you've stored your music, and a playlist view which is automatically filled with all the supported files contained in the selected directory. Supported formats includes ogg, mp3, wav, sid, mod, mo3.
  • Housemarque Audio System
    Housemarque Audio System is a multichannel digital sound and music system, designed mainly for use in games, demos, and other realtime multimedia applications.
  • moosicWebGUI
    A stand alone client program for controlling the moosic jukebox system. It implements not only basic basic player functions but also more sophisticated functions for manipulating the playlist.
  • ReMedial
    ReMedial is a front-end GUI for the avifile libraries. The objective is to make an easy to use, user friendly Windows Media audio stream player for Linux and other Unix based operating systems.
  • StreamTuned
    StreamTuned is a stream player. It play's audio and video streams using mplayer as backend. StreamTuned stores stream url's in dynamically selectable stream repositories that can be files, databases or web services. A stream repository manages stream url's in folders.
  • wmamp
    wmamp is a media player designed for the Window Maker dock. Because the user interface is completely separated from the playing functions, it is easy to write a new media-playing backend, sharing the common look & feel.
  • X Multimedia Project
    X Multimedia Project is a modular, highly extendable multimedia system for creating, playing, and converting multimedia files and streams, as well as a Media Player for Linux.
