First Steps with OpenELEC on the Raspberry Pi 2
OpenELEC uses very little system resources for processor or memory. There's no need to use any special customization tips to get good performance with the RPi2. There's also no need to overclock the machine, reduce the resolution of videos, or use a different skin (although I really like the Amber skin).

    Grip is a cd-player and cd-ripper for the Gnome desktop. It has the ripping capabilities of cdparanoia builtin, but can also use external rippers (such as cdda2wav). It also provides an automated frontend for MP3 (and other audio format) encoders, letting you take a disc and transform it easily straight into MP3s.     Abcde is a frontend program to cdparanoia, wget, cd-discid, id3, and your favorite mp3 encoder (defaults to lame). Grabs an entire CD and converts each track to MP3, then ID3-tags each file, with one command.

    DigitalDJ is an SQL-based mp3-player frontend. It is designed to work with Grip. When Grip encodes mp3 files, it will place all of the song information into an SQL database. DigitalDJ can then use this information to create playlists based on any number of criteria.

    duke is a curses inteface on top of mpg123 for easy playing on a textbased terminal.
  • GQmpeg
    GQmpeg is a front-end to various audio players, including mpg123. It includes playlists, skins (themes), and many other options.

    Juice is a frontend for mpg123 and other players. It provides a nifty dialog-based playlist editor.
  • Jukebox Manager
    Jukebox Manager manages a large set of Multi Volume MP3 tracks, edit and categorize the music and upload a track selection to your PJB100 MP3 Jukebox Player.
  • KAudioCreator
    KAudioCreator is a front-end tool for ripping audio CDs and encoding the wav files using your favorite encoder. Based upon KDE it combines the look and feel of your desktop with the power and flexibility of the command line tools.
  • Kxmms
    Kxmms is a KDE dock application for controlling XMMS.
  • Lars
    Tell Lars which mp3's you want and Lars will turn your mp3's into wavs and burn them onto audio CD's only stopping when the CD is full. As soon as you put another valid blank CD in the drive and click the continue button, and Lars will start writing again.
  • LastBASH
    LastBASH is a console/terminal based player. Although the default player is a great one, it also is a graphical one and it could be some inadequate for the die-hard terminal users. LastBASH tries to find its place among other players, filling the console player gap.

    MP3 Jukebox-Tk is an organizer/jukebox for local mp3 collections. It sorts your mp3 files by band and presents a jukebox style interface to let you choose which ones to play.

    mp3shell is a simpleTcl/Tk GUI for the mpg123 MP3 player.
  • mpgfe
    mpgfe is a ncurses front-end to mpg123 (or mpg321) with mouse support (thru gpm), advanced playlist editing features (load/save/add playlists in m3u format, order/shuffle playlist, move/add/delete playlist entries), resizing support.
    MPMAN is a GUI (lesstif) frontend program that uses a backend program built by the Snowblind Alliance. The GUI provides similar functionality to what one would get from the windows software supplied with the unit. This software should run on any Linux release and is Open Source GPL.
  • Mr. Voice
    Mr. Voice is a GUI frontend for the MP3 database used at The Great American Comedy Company.
  • MyBaD
    MyBaD is a rewrite of Mike Oliphant's DigitalDJ. It provides a database storage facility for Grip and a graphic interface for generating MP3 playlists through SQL queries.
  • NRip
    NRip is a front-end to CDDA rippers and MP3 encoders. Ripping both whole albums and selected songs are supported. Key features is extremly flexible configuration of rippers and encoders, and customizable UI look.
  • PLWarlock
    Playlist Warlock is a text-based front-end for mpg123, written in Perl. It is intended to provide users with the playlist browsing and song selection of a gui mp3 player from any terminal.
  • ripperX
    ripperX is a GTK program to rip CD audio and encode mp3s. It can rip and encode in parallel and has plugins for cdparanoia, BladeEnc, Lame, GoGo, FHG (l3enc and mp3enc), XingMp3enc, 8hz-mp3, and the ISO encoder. It also has support for CDDB and ID3 tags.
  • TEAR
    T.E.A.R. (pronounced TAIR) is a console based front-end for common MP3 creation tools which automates all of the necessary settings involved in ripping and encoding a CD into MP3 format.
  • tk_cdconverter
    tk_cdconverter is a small GUI frontend which helps you rip a CD into a directory, convert the resulting wav files into MP3s (using lame), and set the ID3 tags.
  • TMMS
    TMMS is a ncurse frontend for mpg123 (or mpg321), ogg123 and, now, cda123. It can read mp3, ogg files and audio CDs tracks in the same way gqmpeg does, but with a simplified ncurse interface.
  • Wagtail
    Wagtail is yet-another-CD-ripping-and-encoding-wrapper. Wagtail is designed for bulk encoding, large collections and for people who take their encoding seriously. It supports re-encoding of existing files/playlists, has a client/server architecture, and supports multiple 'tasks' which define the encoded file naming scheme, arbitrary re-processing instructions, format choice restrictions etc.
  • wmmp3
    wmmp3 is an mpg123 frontend. It is a small X application that will also work as a windowmaker dock app.
  • YumfK
    Yumfk is a frontend for the mpg audio player mpg123, the mikmod module player library and mysql. Future versions may include support for sids.
