  • fsniper
    fsniper is a tool that monitors a given set of directories for new or modified files. Then, based on the file's type or name, it invokes a script to be run on that file. Directories are monitored using inotify, instead of simply continuously polling them for changes. new

    Intelligent Filesystem Guard is a tool that monitors changes to files and directories. It is able to evaluate and present these changes to the user in a well-arranged form. This can be used either for the detection of changes in important files or for guarding user data. A large emphasis is put on monitoring the life cycle of the files, and users are able to determine what has happened to a file over the course of its existence.
  • PARANIX
    PARANIX is a PARAnoid uNIX file monitor and alert system. It can index and check thousands of files in a matter of seconds.
  • RFC
    a set of scripts that aims to help System-Administrators run a filesystem-checker (like tripwire, aide and so on...) from a "master-node" to several "slave-nodes" using ssh, scp, sudo and few other common shell commands
  • slipwire
    slipwire is a perl script for checking filesystem integrity using SHA1 hashes.

    SysChk is a tool that aids in the monitoring of file system integrity. It monitors changes to user and group ownership, file permissions, modification times, and MD5 hashes.
  • Watchpost
    Watchpost is a file change monitoring program written for the GNOME desktop environment. The user sets files or folders to monitor for change and Watchpost will report any changes to the files monitored. The tool was designed to help people keep an eye on what is being modified in their system.
  • wmfsm
    wmfsm monitors your filesystem usage. It features three display modes, different colorschemes and exclusion of filesystems.
  • yafic
    Yet Another File Integrity Checker saves information about the state of a filesystem to a database, which later can be used to compare against the current state of the filesystem, letting you know of any changed, added, or removed files.
