Nifty Free Image Viewers
One of my favorite adages is "A picture is worth a thousand words". It refers to the notion that a still image can convey a complex idea. Images can portray a lot of information quickly and more efficiently than text. They capture memories, and never let you forget something you want to remember, and refresh it in your memory.

    Bumblebee is a simple and general collections manager. It works with CSV text files, can export to html, and import file listings.

    Canoe is an online book cataloging software. It differs from library in a way it handles users. In Canoe everyone is equal and is able to either share or borrow books. System helps to store and browse books data. It also automates borrowing process so you can find the book and make an arrangement with the owner with only few clicks. It is fast and robust, designed to be easily extended and modified.

    cdcat is a graphical (QT based) multiplatfor mcatalog program which scans the directories/drives you want and memorise the filesystem (including the tags of mp3's) and store it in a small file.
  • CDCollect
    CDCollect is a CD catalog application for gnome 2.10. It's goal is to be able to catalog your entire CD collection allowing for searches of your CD files with a clean and simple interface. CDCollect is written in mono using monodevelop and the gtk-sharp and sqlite libraries.
  • CdFly
    CdFly is a CrossPlatform CD collection manager, which means that it allows you to save the directory structure of your cds in a database so that you can later browse trough the files withou having to insert alla the cds in you cd drive.
  • CDKeeper
    CDKeeper is an application that facilitates the organization of CD collections. In its present form, it is intended for data cd collections, but plans are in the making for organizing audio cds as well.
  • CDnavigator
    CDnavigator is an application that files your CD, DVD in a database. It also deposits information about photos (JPG), music (MP3) and films saved in media. You can also store another metadata as notes, rating, etc. to this data. You can search over all items and save the choises. CDnavigator supports an automatic cache that saves the most used data on harddisk.
  • CeeMedia
    CeeMedia is a program for cataloguing your movie collection. It can retrive info and cover images from places such as Amazon, IMDb and All Movie Guide, and if that's not enough, you can write your own plugin for your favorite movie-site.
  • Coinage
    Coinage is a database for American coin collecters.
  • DiscDB
    DiscDB is a little program that will use MySQL to catalog all files in your CDs, making it easy to find a file without having to switch discs until you find it. Useful for people who save all their downloads to CD-Rs.
  • DiskSearch
    DiskSearch is a tool for searching for files on all your removable media disks (e.g. CD's, ZIP disks or backup tapes). For instance you can search for songs on your MP3-CD's or for a document on your backup DVD's. For advanced queries there is a regular expression search mode. The search is based on a simple database file which needs to be filled once by adding all your disks to it.
  • Domo
    Domo is a music organizer which indexes digital audio sources, extracts all information and inserts everything into a relational database. The database can then be queried, exported and compared with other digital audio sources. Musicbrainz support is also available for the looking up of Audio CDs or for identifying unknown tracks based on their TRM audio fingerprint.
  • DVD List
    The DVD List is a perl-based package to facilitate the lending of DVD's people have collected as an office-intranet application or between a group of friends. It was written to replace a system that was based around a csv file that had to be manually updated, and so represents the Next Generation tool for your DVD-listing needs, and is licensed under the same terms as perl (GPL/Artistic).

    dvdindex is a free, open-source CD/DVD archiving utility to manage a collection of CDs/DVDs. It has built-in encryption support.

    With the floppy disk database you can catalogue all your disks by number. Useful for other types of disks such as CDROM, DVD, HD, really any type of disk that is accessible by the operating system. You can scan files on the disk and store them in a file which can be viewed and searched.

    Gcdkatalog is a simple software witch stores names of files and paths burned on cds/dvds.
  • GCfilms
    GCfilms is an application that can be used to manage a movie collection. A user can stock all the movies he has with some associated informations (where it is located, movie category, already seen or not, a rating,...). Then one can retrieve some movies matching filtering criteria (specific values for movies information).
  • GCO
    GNOME Comics Organizer - A database for keeping track of your comic collection. It supports Titles, Publishers, Types, Writers, Pencilers, Inkers, Cover Prices, Current Prices, Comments, and much more. It allows you to sort the list in various ways
  • GCstar
    GCstar is an application that can be used to manage collections of different types. Users can enter all the items they own, along with associated information and later perform searches using filtering criteria. A plugin system allows some information to be downloaded automatically from Internet sites. Collections can be exported to many formats, including HTML, XML, CSV, or Tellico file format, or imported from Ant Movie Catalog or Tellico, among others. It currently manages collections of movies and video games and lets users define their own types of collections.
  • Gnome Catalog
    Gnome Catalog catalogs CD, DVD and hard disk files. Generate thumbnails of the video files and image files via thumbnailers and saves it in the database files. Save the metadata of the files, then you can search in the metatada of mp3, avis, images (exif). The program have been develop in python-gtk.
  • GOFoto
    GOFoto is an appliaction for managing large collections of photos. It allows photo refining, generating web gallery and VideoCD.
  • GVideoDB
    GVideoDB is an XML-driven movie database for your movie collection. It features the ability to use many database files.
  • GWhere
    GWhere allows you to manage a catalog of your CDs and any other removable media (such as hard disks, floppy disks, Zip disks, CD-ROMs, etc...) indexed in a database. With GWhere it is easy to browse your CDs or to make a quick search without needing to insert each CD one after another.
  • Gwine
    Gwine is a little application to manage your wine cellar. It is written in Perl and using Gtk+.
  • happydigger
    happydigger is a program which you can be used for cataloging archeological finds. It is intended both for semi-professional use and by amateurs (e.g. metal detectorists) who want to keep track of their finds.
  • Home Librarian
    (commercial) Home Librarian is a database system for creating and maintaining a library card catalog of your books, records, tapes, or any other collectable item.

    ibocator (formerly elocator) keeps track of your stuff on CDs, DVDs, HDDs, etc.
  • iBookshelf
    iBookshelf is an application for cataloging your book collection and designing bookshelves based on this data.
  • IMMS Magical Favorites Collector
    IMMS Magical Favorites Collector uses information collected by IMMS to find your favorite songs, and then do the hard work of compiling a CD/DVD/MP3 player full of your favorites. It preserves the pathnames of files, so that the resulting collection will reflect the main collection.
  • Inventory
    Inventory is a gtk+-2 inventory program that uses a mysql database as backend. It's goals are to be easy to use, fast and flexible and portable. You can store anything in it, CD's, DVD's but also todo lists or youre wine cellar.

    Katalog is a program for indexing CD's.
  • KmusicdB
    KmusicdB is a music information manager. The GUI is written for KDE and the backend is to a PostgreSQL server. KmusicdB enables you to take your collection of music (CDs, vinyl, whatever) and organize it for browsing and searching. KmusicdB has a variety of reports (see below). There is CDDB support which makes adding CDs a breeze. Its main goals are stability, speed, ease of use, and lots of features.
  • KVideolist
    KVideolist is a database for your home-video collection. It is designed for the K Desktop Environment and uses the Qt Toolkit.
  • Lin-MoVe
    (shareware) Lin-MoVe is a program to administer a model train collection.
  • MCatS
    MCatS is a Modular Catalog System. The basic idea is to have several modules (shared libraries) that are dynamically loaded on demand.
  • MediaBase
    MediaBase is a PHP/MySQL database to manage your collection of CD's (both audio and data), backup tapes, and other media.
  • mediadbs
    mediadbs is a project that aims to produce a flexible database system for tracking and searching for multiple forms of electronic media (eg mp3, divx, ogg) distributed on multiple servers in a local network. It currently only supports mp3 format files.
