  • Shutter
    Shutter is a feature-rich screenshot program. You can take a screenshot of a specific area, window, your whole screen, or even a Web site, apply different effects to it, draw on it to highlight points, and then upload to an image hosting site, all within one window. Read more hot
  • Axmjpeg
    Axmjpeg retrieves JPEG images from an MJPEG over HTTP stream that conforms to the "Axis Video API, HTTP Interface Specification." Each captured JPEG image may be written to a file or piped through to a shell command for further processing. It also supports time-based retrieval, where one image per specified interval is captured.
  • Bisce
    Bisce is a motion analysis tool, originally used to track filaments, whence the name (bisce is the Italian name for snakes). It is implemented as a few separate building blocks and stacking on a few external packages: the pacco image processing library and the pxc frame grabber driver (for the ImageNation pxc200 frame grabber).

    Fbshot is a small program that allowes you to take screenshots from your Linux framebuffer. This utility was written on x86 hardware (typical PC), therefore it has no support for other architectures and their framebuffers, especially not for Amiga nor Atari.

    gtk-vector-screenshot is a GTK module that allows you to take a screenshot of a running GTK-3 application as a vector image, with fully scalable graphics and selectable text.
  • gtkShots
    gtkShots is a python/GTK application to capture screenshots continuosly. It is a hand tool to automatically save the screenshots in a (un)specified period of time, with the possibility to schedule it and to choose options for each screenshot to be saved, such as the size, the parent folder and the time interval between them.
  • Istanbul
    Istanbul is a desktop session recorder for the Free Desktop. It records your session into an Ogg Theora video file. To start the recording, you click on its icon in the notification area. To stop you click its icon again. It works on GNOME, KDE, XFCE and others. Read more
  • KSnapshot
    KSnapshot is a simple utility for taking screenshots. It can capture images of the whole desktop, a single window, a section of a window or a selected region. Images can then be saved in a variety of different formats. Read more
  • Pyvnc2swf
    Pyvnc2swf is a cross-platform screen recording tool. The sofware captures screen motion through the VNC protocol and generates a Shockwave Flash (SWF) movie. Read more
  • Screen Sniper
    Screen Sniper is a graphical front-end to the import program, which takes screenshots on X Windows. It's designed to provide an easy-to-use interface, with similar features to the ScreenShooter GNOME panel applet, but doesn't require a GNOME panel to run - it's a standalone program.
  • screen-session
    screen-session saves GNU Screen sessions to disk. It supports saving of directories, programs, layouts, scrollbacks, and titles.
  • scrot
    scrot is a commandline screen capture util like "import", but using imlib2. It has lots of options for autogenerating filenames, and can do fun stuff like taking screenshots of multiple displays and glueing them together.
  • SnapAll
    Snapall is a gtk+2 program that allows you to capture screenshots.
  • snapscreenshot
    snapscreenshot takes a snapshot from your Linux console(s) and outputs a Targa file.
  • Wink
    Wink is a software tool to make presentations and tutorials about using software programs. A Wink presentation will resemble a live walkthrough about how to use the software. The author of the presentation can also add comments and explanations to parts of the presentation to better explain the concepts and usage to the end user. Read more
