The release of quality commercial titles such as Left 4 Dead 2, Portal, and Day of Defeat bring real credibility to Linux as a first-class gaming platform.   • King of the Hill

Entrenchment, rugged defense, defensive fire, surprise contacts, surrender, unit supply, weather influence, reinforcements and other implementations contribute to the tactical and strategic depth of the game.   • Nether Earth
    Nether Earth was the very first real time strategy game. It worked on a Spectrum machine, and only needed 48KB of RAM to work! It has all the tipical elements of strategy games: resources, factories, combat units, etc.
  • Noble Warfare
    Noble Warfare is an open source simulation that creates large historical and fantasy battles (or alternatively smaller skirmishes).
  • OpenWarfare
    OpenWarfare is a turn based strategy that plays in a similar fashion to warhammer, necromunda, etc (tabletop war games). Basically each player has an army made up of squads and characters and you strategically attack each other until the number of turns is finished or opposing armies are destroyed.
  • Panzers
    Panzers is a simple little multiplayer 3D game where the player controls a WW2 tank. The player controls the tank in a fully 3D environment trying to blast other players. Several different vehicles will be selectable, but currently there are two different panzers at your disposal.
  • RC Wars
    RC Wars is a turn-based strategy game where you an another player take on the role of two kids battling it out with an army of radio-controlled vehicles. Players are given an amount of points to begin with to purchase units for their army. One can choose from an assortment of toys such as tanks, helicopters, and "rock-em-sock-em" robots and deploy them out on the game field to take on the other person's army. The first to destroy all the other player's units or take out their base wins.
  • RealTimeBattle
    RealTimeBattle is a programming game, in which robots controlled by programs are fighting each other. The goal is to destroy the enemies, using the radar to examine the environment and the cannon to shoot.
  • Regimental Command
    Regimental Command is a generic armored combat system being developed with the Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL). The goal is to create a cross-platform system that can be used to develop a variety of turn-based and real-time wargames.
  • Tactics Squad
    Tactics Squad is a real-time tactical game in which the player manages a squad of soldiers in a futuristic environment. It is intended to be a very fun game, focusing mainly on gameplay more than eye candy.
  • Tickletankle
    Tickletankle is a 2-player tank game with fractal terrain that can be played locally or across the Internet or a LAN. You can play against a human player or a computer-controlled opponent (AI player). The objective of the game is to bomb the other player away.
  • Turious
    Turious is a turn based strategy game. It features three classes of soldier, three classes of civilian, three levels of difficulty, and up to five AI enemies.
  • WAR
    WAR is a turn based client/server networked 3D strategy game. Think Warhammer 40.000 Epic Space Marine battles, and you will know what to expect.
  • World of Voom
    World of Voom is an artillery game created by Edwin Steiner. It was inspired in the 90s by the game Tank Wars. World of Voom is turn-based and can be played by 1-10 players on a single PC. There is a wide array of weapons to choose from, and the available computer players range from amusing morons to extremely challenging opponents.
  • xbattle
    xbattle is a concurrent multi-player game which combines elements of strategy with arcade-like action to capture a wide range of military scenarios. Opponents play from separate displays, with commands being executed concurrently -- the players do not take "turns", but rather they all issue their commands simultaneously.
  • XBattleAI
    XBattle[AI] is a realtime strategy game in it's purest form. You are fighting on a graph (map) where certain nodes continously produces energy (troops) and you fight by drawing arrows along the edges where troop movements should occur.
  • xscorch
    Xscorch is a clone of the classic DOS game, "Scorched Earth". The basic goal is to annihilate enemy tanks using overpowered guns. :) Basically, you buy weapons, you target the enemy by adjusting the angle of your turret and firing power, and you hope to destroy their tank before they destroy yours.
