The Italian firm CompuMaster has introduced a compact thin client that runs Linux. The "Praim Ino" can be mounted on the back of a monitor, draws just six Watts, and comes with a variety of client software, the company says.

Kate is a multi document editor, based on a rewritten version of the kwrite editing widget of KDE, offering all the features of that plus a bunch of its own. Kate has been been moved to the kdebase package, and is a builtin part of your favorite desktop since release 2.2. Being a native KDE application, Kate is of course born with networking transparency, as well as it integrates with the outstanding features of KDE. It consists of the micropolis module, which is the engine recast as a C++ class; the cellengine module, which is a cellular automata machine engine; and the tileengine module, which is a Cairo based tile renderer. It is intended to be used with the OLPC's Sugar user interface environment, but layered so the core code is useful in other contexts.
  • OpenCity
    Another city simulator written with OpenGL & SDL. You can build some RCI zones, electric plant and roads. Besides you can also raise or lower the terrain.
  • OpenTTD
    OpenTTD is an open source clone of the Microprose game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe".
  • Pontifex 2
    (commercial) The offical sequal to the bridge building game Pontifex. In Pontifex II you design and build bridges. Once your bridge design is completed the bridge is tested by trains and other vehicles traveling across it.
  • Simutrans
    Simutrans is a transport and economic simulation game. There are versions for Linux, BeOS and Windows available. Simutrans has not yet reached production state, but it is quite possible to build big transport networks between the industries and cities.
  • Software Tycoon
    (commercial) Armed with a small start capital, you set out in 1982 to conquer the games market. Develop your own game concepts, create a team and conquer the world. But never forget that you have rivals for the dominance you are seeking.
