Linux has finally come of age and is now a legitimate gaming platform. The release of quality commercial titles such as Left 4 Dead 2, Portal, and Day of Defeat bring real credibility to Linux as a first-class gaming platform. The bid to lure gamers away from Microsoft's platform has also been strengthened, in part, due to the official launch of Steam for the Linux operating system back on February 14.

    Bart is a puzzle-style game. In a maze, there is a human and several monsters. The human wants to escape (reach the "exit" point).
  • Booruatsukaigaumai
    Booruatsukaigaumai is a one-key desk game using OpenGL 3D scene rendering. Your task is to guide a number of red balls through 6 different levels full of blocks, holes, and gates. You have to make the balls go through as many gates as possible, which earns you the score points. However, you only have one key to control the desk tilt, which makes balls roll to the right (when the key is pressed) or to the left (when the key is released). Any other movement of the balls is controlled only by gravity and interaction with blocks, holes, and other balls. Even if the principle seems to be very simple, the game can be quite challenging.
  • Cube Escape
    You are inside a cube made up of numerous shells, with a maze etched on the surface of each shell. Escape the cube by traveling through the mazes, including over cube edges, until you find an upward exit. When you reach the red exit, you win.
  • CuteMaze
    CuteMaze is a simple, top-down game in which mazes are randomly generated using one of a choice of several different algorithms. You move the character through while hunting for targets (cheese, by default)?the game is won once all of these targets have been picked up.
  • duckmaze
    duckmaze is a game about a duck that is in a maze. The duck can move walls, but only if there are no walls in the way (it makes sense when you try it).
  • GNOME Maze
    GNOME Maze is unsurprisingly a Maze-board-game for GNOME.
  • Groundhog
    Groundhog is a little logic game written in C++ using the GTK library. The goal is to put colored balls in pockets of the same color by manipulating a maze of tubes.
  • InterLOGIC
    InterLOGIC is a logic/puzzle game based on an old Amiga game Balls. The object of the game is to move a differently colored balls through the maze, connecting it with the other same colored balls.
  • LabyCube
    LabyCube is a labyrinth generator that creates foldable labyrinths. The generated labyrinths can be printed, cut out, and folded.
  • Linux Snipes
    Linux Snipes is a reimplementation of an old text-mode DOS game. You are in a maze with a number of enemies (the "snipes") and a few "hives" which create more of the enemies. Your job is to kill the snipes and their hives before they get the best of you. 26 "option levels" let you change characteristics of the game such as whether or not diagonal shots bounce off the walls.

    Plonx is a small puzzle game, where you'll have to avoid bombs and collect points.
  • TextMaze
    This is an interactive maze, rendered in ASCII. It should be playable on anything that has perl and a curses library.
  • Theseus and the Minotaur
    (commercial) Play one of the world's most famous maze games! In Theseus and the Minotaur, you must guide Theseus through 87 mind twisting labyrinths to escape the dangerous Minotaur.
  • Tilt-n-Roll
    Tilt the 3d maze and roll your marble to the exit. The final version will fully support laptop SMS / HDAPS sensors to allow players to tilt the laptop to play
  • Vodovod
    Vodovod is a single-player action puzzle game. You get a limited number of pipes on each level, and need to combine them to lead the water from the house at the top of the screen to the storage tank at the bottom. It is similar to the Windows games Pipe Mania and Pipe Dream.
  • WabbelLab
    WabbelLab is a game were one has to move a ball through a maze. There are holes distributed over the maze and the main challenge is to avoid these holes. It's a software implementation of a game that is also available in wood with a metallic ball.
  • XorCurses
    XorCurses is a game based entirely on Xor by Astral Software. The original game was released around 1987 for the 8-bit home computers popular at the time.
