Linux has been getting a lot of press over the past six months, particularly populist distributions such as Ubuntu. Dell has installed Ubuntu onto its Linux PCs and laptops, and let’s not forget the phenomenally successful Eee PC from Asus, which runs the Xandros distro.

    Gnofin ("Guh-no-fin") is a personal finance application that runs under GNOME. It is designed to be fast, efficient, and easy-to-use. The scope of the project has been kept at a minimum to preserve an interface that is both intuitive and straight-forward to learn. However, Gnofin also provides a plugin system that allows it to be extended in terms of the tools/functions it provides and the file formats it can handle.
  • HomeBank
    HomeBank is a fast, simple and easy to use program to manage your accounts. It differs from gnucash for the better look and feel, and for the greatest start-up speed. It has a lot of features such as easy analysis with graphical charts (statistics, budget, overdrawn, car cost), multi-accounts support, budget management, reminder, import from OFX/QFX-CSV files, visual status of operations. It is based on GTK2.

    A freeopen source multi-platform implementation and extension of the Australian Tax Offices (ATO) 'e-tax' software.
  • Kapital
    (commercial) A personal finance manager package for KDE and Linux. It is meant to be in the spirit of Intuit Quicken or Microsoft Money, but without the bloat.

    A budgeting and money management program for the KDE desktop environment. It requires KDE 3 and is currently in early development. Features include: double-entry accounting, budgeting, transaction list for selected account or month, and full Polish, Russian, Spanish, and Italian translations and partial French translation.

  • mbank-cli
    'mbank-cli' provides a rudimentary command line interface to the mBank online banking system.
  • Mjrz Personal Finance Manager
    Mjrz Personal finance manager is a simple tool for managing accounts and expenses. It was designed and written to be intuitive and easy to use for home and small business users not familiar with accounting principles like single or double entry accounting. Mjrz PFM is a basic implementation of double entry accounting principles.

    MyBudget's aim of the program is to make it as easy as possible for people to do their own personal budgets and keep track of their finances.

    Opale is a very simple personal bank account manager for KDE and KOffice.

  • Qt MySQL Budget

  • R6 Bill Tracker
    R6 Bill Tracker allows you to track your bills and provides an easy to use interface to identify when bill is due. There are several reports to help you budget month to month.
  • RaboGRAP
    RaboGRAP is a tool for Dutch Rabobank users. It generates reports containing overviews, summaries, statistics, and graphs from your banking transactions, which can be downloaded from the Rabobank Internet banking site.
  • stark
    stark is a small tool to display your GnuCash data. It doesn't allow modification of the data. It allows you to quickly jump between accounts that a transaction affects. Depends on expat and ncurses.
  • X-Accountant
    The goal of xacc it to provide an easy to use, yet powerful utility to help keep your finances in order. Features include: Multiple accounts, general ledger, automatic transfers between accounts, quicken import, quickfill, and free.
  • XFinans
    XFinans is meant to provide an overview of the balances of your bank accounts.
  • Xinvest
    personal finance tracking and performance tool
  • Yet Another Financial Manager
    YAFM (Yet Another Financial Manager) is a simple-to-use tool aimed to help track spending and income. It does not require you to track every penny spent or earned and still provides useful information.
