One of my favorite adages is "A picture is worth a thousand words". It refers to the notion that a still image can convey a complex idea. Images can portray a lot of information quickly and more efficiently than text. They capture memories, and never let you forget something you want to remember, and refresh it in your memory.

  • Accountflex
    (commercial) AccountFlex is a full-featured linux accounting software package that fits a wide range of businesses. The system is priced appropriately for linux and includes unlimited user licenses and our Infoflex-4GL source code designed for easy modification. The Accountflex system also runs all unix platforms as well as browsers. Modules are available for general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, sales, point-of-sales, purchasing, inventory, job cost, bill-of-materials.     AqFinance is the successor to QBankManager. It is a graphical accounting application based on double-entry accounting. The GUI uses the FOX toolkit. The package contains AqFinance (the GUI application), AqFinance-CLI (a command line tool to manipulate and export the AqFinance database), and AqBanking-CLI (a command line tool for online banking tasks).
  • avsap
    A powerful, flexible, and complete financial accounting package. It supports double entry book keeping, cash and bank books, ledger, journal, customizable chart of accounts, template voucher entry, custom reports, year closure, customizable financial years, and multiple login levels.
  • Beanie
    Beanie is a flexible, distributed open-source accounting system for medium-sized companies. It includes back-end batch processing as well as a GTK GUI. It provides automated purchases, sales and nominal ledgers as well as automated invoicing (via email).
  • Bo-Keep
    Bo-Keep allows you to create custom data entry interfaces for accounting software, speeding up data entry and reducing errors.
  • Canadian Payroll
    Canadian Payroll calculates Canadian payroll taxes, CPP, EI, WCB, HP and more. The command line version is cross-platform Python which produces various outputs suitable for either stand-alone or use with another program. It includes a simple GUI for Linux written in Kaptain.
  • Command-Line Accountant
    Command-Line Accountant handles multiple users (on UNIX-based systems), multiple accounts per user, IOU's, monthly debits & credits, and more. For simplicity, it does not use check numbers. Its interface works purely on command-line arguments-- there is no interactivity whatsoever.

    Famflows is a program which tracks "flows" of energy and materials inside a household. It has an alternative approach from double entry accounting systems.

    finic helps users manage their finances. It can be used on a local network (as a client-server system for many users) or on local computer (client only for one user), with separation of accounts, clauses, and customers. It can encrypt information and manage different users with different access rights. Reports can be generated as HTML, PDF, or XLS files or through an internal print preview system. An API is available for creating extensions.
  • Fitrix
    (commercial) A complete "source code" business software package that provides all the components needed to implement a fully integrated, highly customized Business Accounting, Order Processing and custom software solutions for small to medium sized businesses hosted on a Linux server. Fitrix is also a complete software development environment including a Rapid Application Development (RAD) Tool, a 4GL programming language, and an SQL Relational Database.
  • GestiONG
    GestiONG is an accounting and membership application for NGOs and charities. It has been developed in Spain, but any internationalization is welcome.
  • GnuLedger
    An open source financial solution. GnuLedger includes all of the functionality that home users need to manage their finances.
  • Grisbi
    A personal accounting software, written with GNOME and GTK. It is a software written by French developpers, so it respects perfectly the French accounting rules. It can manage multiple accounts, multiple currencies, and multiple users. Read more

    A basic command line accounting system for small or medium enterprises, written in Catalan and adapted to Spanish law.
  • HoneyCalc
    A complete accounting system for Linux. It's designed to be easy to use, very stable and secure. In Czech.
  • Kahemba
    An accounting application. It is multi-platform, multi-user, and not Web-based (until now). It is written in Python and wxPython. It supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite.
  • Kalpa
    Kalpa is a full-featured multi-user client-server cross-platform accounting, management, market support, and CRM system.
  • Kamibroke
    Kamibroke is a small accounting program, designed to used by one person at a time, for small double entry accounting procedures. It is NOT intended to be an accounting solution for anything but very small business.
  • kivitendo
    kivitendo (formely Lx-Office) is a fork of the accounting software SQL Ledger. The focus lies on customizations for the German market, e.g. tax calculation. It can export accounting data in the German DATEV-format. It features invoicing, sales orders, and quotes. Forms are generated on the fly in postscript or PDF format.
  • Ledger
    Ledger is an accounting tool with the moxie to exist. It provides no bells or whistles, and returns the user to the days before user interfaces were even a twinkling in their father's CRT. What it does offer is a double-entry accounting ledger with all the flexibility and muscle of its modern day cousins, without any of the fat. Think of it as the Bran Muffin of accounting tools.

    A French professional analytical accounting program. It was developed with GTK 1.2, GNOME, and MySQL.

    A home banking program that comes in two parts (in German).
  • OpenMFG
    A full featured ERP suite including Sales, Purchasing, Costing, Financial and Manufacturing modules. Server runs on PostgreSQL and Oracle. Clients runs on Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2K/XP, Linux and Mac OS X.
  • Phasis
    Phasis is a financial application solution for Italian small/medium enterprises (PMI), and is especially suited for accounting/financial purposes . It is written in Python with extensive wxPython.

    A personal accounting program based on the QT Toolkit. It features double- or single-entry bookkeeping, a reconciliation window and type-Ahead text boxes.
  • Quasar
    (commercial) Quasar is a full function, stand-alone business accounting package. You may elect to use Quasar Accounting with the open source GNU General Public License (GPL) which is available free of charge. Or, you may elect to purchase our commercial license for a nominal fee. Read more

    (commercial) A real-time accounting, billing, monitoring software package designed specifically for the ISP's.
  • SOWAS
    SOWAS is a general-purpose multi-user financial bookkeeping system implemented in Python using MySQL and wxPython.
  • SQL-Ledger
    SQL-Ledger is a double entry accounting system. Accounting data is stored in a SQL Server, for the display any text or GUI browser can be used. The entire system is linked through a chart of accounts. Each item in inventory is linked to income, expense, inventory and tax accounts.   • Stansoft
    Stansoft (formerly LOCbook) is a suite of accounting applications targeted at petroleum marketers. While the system is tailored for petroleum distribution and convenience store operators with the Fuel Management and Retail Sales modules, it can be used as a general accounting program for any industry.
  • Tiny Accounting
    Tiny Accounting allows you to follow the performance of responsibilty centers and to allocate expenses, generates reports of all accounting data in the general ledger, takes care of journal book-keeping and allows financial reporting, deals with cash-flow. Analytical and reporting tools are also included and adress company or group accounts.
  • VATStuff
