7 Best Free Alternative Git Clients
Git is an open source distributed version control system which was originally designed by Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, in 2005 for Linux kernel development. This control system is widely used by the open source community, handling small to extremely large projects with an emphasis on speed and efficiency, but maintaining flexibility, scalability, and guaranteeing data integrity. Git is one of a number of open source revision control systems available for Linux. Other popular tools in this field include Subversion, Bazaar, Mercurial, Monotone, CVS, and SVN. However, Git is frequently regarded by many developers to be the finest version control tool available.

  • Executor
(commercial) A Macintosh emulator that uses no software from Apple Computer. It doesn't require Mac ROMs or a Mac System file. It primarily runs older Macintosh applications and doesn't yet run PowerPC Macintosh Applications on PCs. hot
  • Basilisk II
An Open Source 68k Mac emulator for BeOS, Unix and AmigaOS. Basilisk II requires a copy of a 512K or 1MBMac ROM and a copy of MacOS 7.x or 8.x to run. Basilisk II is freeware and distributed under the GNU General Public License.
  • Dapple
    Dapple/NDapple are Apple ][ emulators, aiming to support a well-fitted Apple ][, ][+ or //e machine with 64K. It is (was) based on Marat Fayzullin's M6502 with 65C02 additions. Dapple ][ aims for a 128K //e.
  • KEGS
A hack on the great KEGS Apple IIGS emulator, which consists of implementing an SDL driver for video, sound, keyboard, and joystick. This should make the emulator portable to many more OSes (incl. BeOS, MacOS, Linux, Win32).
  • LinApple
Linapple is an emulator of Apple][ series computers for Linux or other POSIX-compliant systems with SDL support. It derives from AppleWin and so is almost as powerful.
  • Mac on Linux
Mac-on-Linux is a linux/ppc program which makes it possible to run Mac OS in parallel with Linux. MOL is primarily intended to be used by those who run linux/ppc as their main operating system but still want to be able to run that occasional Mac OS application. Other possible applications include: development, hardware simulation, server applications, and compatibility testing.
  • Mini vMac
Mini vMac emulates a Macintosh Plus, one of the earliest of Macintosh computers, sold between 1986 and 1990. It can run old Macintosh software that otherwise couldn't be used on recent machines, and so helps to preserve history, from the era when the modern user interface for computers was being defined.
  • PearPC
PearPC is an architecture-independent PowerPC platform emulator capable of running most PowerPC operating systems. While the CPU emulation may be slow (1/500th or 1/15th, see above), the speed of emulated hardware is hardly impacted by the emulation; the emulated hard-drive and CDROM e.g. are very fast, especially with OS that support bus-mastering (Linux, Darwin, Mac OS X do).
  • vMac
vMac is a Macintosh emulator that currently emulates a Motorola 68000 based Apple Macintosh Plus. A ROM image from a Plus is required. It is planned to implement other 68000 machines, such as SEs and II series. Currently System 7.5.5 is the latest vMac can boot, which is the latest System a real MacPlus can boot. vMac runs in black an white, a larger screen and color is the next thing to be developed.
