The Italian firm CompuMaster has introduced a compact thin client that runs Linux. The "Praim Ino" can be mounted on the back of a monitor, draws just six Watts, and comes with a variety of client software, the company says.

Kate
Kate is a multi document editor, based on a rewritten version of the kwrite editing widget of KDE, offering all the features of that plus a bunch of its own. Kate has been been moved to the kdebase package, and is a builtin part of your favorite desktop since release 2.2. Being a native KDE application, Kate is of course born with networking transparency, as well as it integrates with the outstanding features of KDE.   • Bezipped
    Bezipped is a file compression and archive utility built on top of the bzip2 command line tool. new
  • 7zX
    7zX is a port of 7-zip for Mac OS X.
  • BetterZip
    (commercial) BetterZip lets you open archives without immediately extracting them. This is much faster and you don't have to remove the extracted files and folders after using them. The currently supported archive formats are: ZIP, TAR, GZip, BZip2, CPIO, RAR, and 7-Zip.

    bzip2 is a freely available, patent free?, high-quality data compressor. It typically compresses files to within 10% to 15% of the best available techniques (the PPM family of statistical compressors), whilst being around twice as fast at compression and six times faster at decompression.
  • Compress
    Compress can compress in tar, zip, bzip2, gzip, and zip formats. Compress can also archive files in the relatively new p7zip format. You can also uncompress files in any of the mentioned formats.

  • TarGz
    TarGz is a simple droplet to compress files or folders in "tar.gz" format (with .tgz extension).

    TarPit creates tar archives by drag-n-drop. Compression options include GZip, BZip2 and ZCompress with adjustable compression levels. It also supports MacBinary & AppleDouble options for preserving resource forks, as well as some other unique features/

    The Unarchiver is a much more capable replacement for "BOMArchiveHelper.app", the built-in archive unpacker program in Mac OS X.
