ExactScan ExactScan is a versatile document scanning and management solution for small and home offices as well as workgroups. ExactScan allows to capture documents from mid-range up to high-speed duplex document scanners at full speed while optimizing the document on-the-fly. It features a unique file name control as well as saving to PDF as well as TIFF, JPEG, JPEG2000 and PNG bitmap files. ExactScan allows performing state of the art image processing including automatic cropping, deskewing, dynamic thresholding for perfect black and white documents as well as descreening print rasters. It is designed specifically for the Mac OS X platform to take advantage of platform specific technologies such as CoreImage and Spotlight. Snac Snac is a GUI for scanimage. The program is small and limited in it's abilities, but it allows you scan a preview and to select an area from that preview to scan. VueScan (commercial) VueScan supports over 500 flatbed and film scanners and 142 digital camera raw file types, and is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. It automatically adjusts images to optimum color balance, which reduces the need to manually do this in Photoshop. VueScan includes built-in color calibration of scanners, producing colors that look true to life. Supporting more than 100 brands of negative film, VueScan offers options for scanning faded slides and prints, batch scanning, IT8 color calibration and other advanced scanning features.
