(commercial) DicePlayer is a popular video player for the Android platform. The application differentiates itself from most rival free and commercial video players by offering hardware acceleration for certain video and audio containers. This enables dual core Android devices to be able to play high definition (720p but not 1080p) MKV and AVI files which would otherwise not be playable.


  • Antivirus Live CD
    Antivirus Live CD is a 4MLinux fork including the ClamAV scanner. It's designed for system admins who need a lightweight live CD with an antivirus scanner. Both Ethernet (including Wi-Fi) and dial-up (including fast USB modems) Internet connections are supported to enable automatic updates of the virus signature database.

    bitkey is a Bitcoin Swiss Army Knife in a verifiably secure self-contained Live CD/USB. Supports air-gapped Bitcoin transactions. Makes offline cold storage (slightly more) practical.

    Byzantium is a bootable Linux with Ad-hoc wireless mesh networking for the zombie apocalypse.

  • CosmoPBX
    ComoPBX is a Live CD based on Knoppix with the Asterisk PBX and Asterisk-GUI.
  • DyneBolic
    DyneBolic is a GNU/Linux distribution simply running from a CD, without the need to install anything, able to recognize most of your devices and periferals: sound, video, TV, network cards and more. The basic requisite you need is just a i586 PC with 64Mb of RAM and a IDE CD-ROM. Read more

    GnackTrack is a Live (and installable) Linux distribution designed for Penetration Testing and is based on Ubuntu. Although this sounds like BackTrack, it's most certainly not; it's very similar but based on the much loved GNOME!
  • JayOS
    JayOS is a Live CD distro intended for use as a more secure mobile environment. It integrates in-RAM filesystem encryption with plausible deniability for a system that can be difficult to alter without rebuilding. This offers a user with a high degree of data integrity; since all filesystems are either static or encrypted, the system is resistant to physical attacks.
  • JonDo
    JonDo Live-CD offers a secure, pre-configured environment for anonymous surfing and more. The live system contains proxy clients for JonDonym, Tor, I2P and the remailer Mixmaster and Mixminion.
  • KcPenTrix
    KcPenTrix features a lot of new or up to date tools for auditing and testing a network, from scanning and discovering to exploiting vulnerabilities.
  • Live Raizo
    Live Raizo is a live Debian-based distribution to simulate networks and to experiment the system administration.
  • Local Area Security
    Local Area Security is a project that was started in 2002 to research information security related topics.
  • Network Security Toolkit
    Network Security Toolkit is a bootable ISO image based on Fedora providing easy access to best-of-breed Open Source Network Security Applications and should run on most x86 platforms (Pentium II and above). NST can also be used for crash recovery operation
  • OpenSIMS
    OpenSIMS ties together the open source tools used for security event management into a common infrastructure. These tools include NMap, Snort, and many others. The best way to experience it is by downloading the liveCD.
  • Operator
    Operator is a complete Linux (Debian) distribution that runs from a single bootable CD and runs entirely in RAM. The Operator contains an extensive set of Open Source network security tools that can be used for monitoring and discovering networks. This virtually can turn any PC into a network security pen-testing device without having to install any software.
  • Ophcrack Live CD
    The ophcrack LiveCD contains a full linux system (SLAX), ophcrack for linux and rainbow tables for alphanumerical passwords. Ophcrack is a Windows password cracker based on rainbow tables. It is a very efficient implementation of rainbow tables done by the inventors of the method.
  • PelicanHPC
    PelicanHPC is a remaster of the Knoppix live CD distibution of GNU Linux that allows setting up a cluster of machines for parallel processing using the LAM-MPI and/or MPICH implementations of MPI. You can convert a room full of machines running Windows into a Linux cluster, and when you shut down, your Windows machines are in their original state.
  • Pentoo
    Pentoo is a penetration testing LiveCD distribution based on Gentoo. It features a lot of tools for auditing and testing an environment, from scanning and discovery to exploiting vulnerabilities.
  • pfSense
    pfSense is a m0n0wall-derived operating system platform with radically different goals, such as using Packet Filter, FreeBSD 6.x (or DragonFly BSD when ALTQ and CARP is finished) ALTQ for excellent packet queueing, and an integrated package management system for extending the environment with new features.   • Phlak
    PHLAK is a modular live security Linux distribution. PHLAK comes with two light gui's (fluxbox and XFCE4), many security tools, and a spiral notebook full of security documentation. PHLAK is a derivative of Morphix.
  • Phrealon
    Phrealon is a bootable linux CD based on Slackware Linux 8.0 (now 9.0) designed to allow the easy imaging of multiple workstations. It utilizes the udpcast set of Linux tools to accomplish this.
  • RCPlive
    RCPlive is based on Debian 7 and RCP100 routing suite. The software runs directly from a read-only CD or USB media, and it provides persistence by saving the configuration into a file placed on an existing disk partition.
  • SecurityOnion
    SecurityOnion is an Ubuntu-based live CD to facilitate network security monitoring.
    SELKS is a live ISO dedicated to Suricata 2.0. The name comes from its major components: Suricata Elasticsearch Logstash Kibana Scirius. After starting or installing SELKS, you get a running Suricata with IDPS and NSM capabilities, Kibana to analyse alert and events and Scirius to configure the Suricata ruleset.
  • Sentry Firewall
    Sentry Firewall CD-ROM is a Linux-based bootable CDROM suitable for use as an inexpensive and easy to maintain firewall, server, or IDS(Intrusion Detection System) Node. The system is designed to be immediately configurable for a variety of different operating environments via a configuration file located on a floppy disk, a local hard drive, and/or a network via HTTP(S), FTP, SFTP, or SCP.
  • STD
    STD is a distribution featuring a collection of hundreds if not thousands of open source security tools. Its sole purpose in life is to put as many security tools at your disposal with as slick an interface as it can. STD is designed to assist network administrators and professionals alike secure their networks.
  • Tails
    Tails is a live operating system, that you can start on almost any computer from a DVD, USB stick, or SD card. It aims at preserving your privacy and anonymity.
  • Thinux Cluster Live CD
    Thinux Cluster Live CD is a thin-client server on a live CD. It boots a network of diskless computers to automatically start an application such as a Web browser. Each thin client machine acts as a cluster node to share its processing and memory resources with each other to take the load off the server.
  • TPM Security Server Linux
    A live Security/Forensics Linux Distribution, built from scratch and packed full of tools useful for vulnerability analysis, penetration tests, and forensic analysis.
  • TurnKey Joomla Live CD appliance
    TurnKey Joomla Live CD appliance is a lightweight, installable live CD of the Joomla CMS, based on Ubuntu. TurnKey Linux aims to develop high-quality software appliances that are easy to deploy, easy to use, and free.
  • WarLinux
    WarLinux is available on disk and bootable CD. It's main intended use is for systems administrators that want to audit and evaluate thier wireless network installations.
  • XLiveCD
    XLiveCD allows users of Microsoft Windows to connect to remote Unix computers, run graphical applications and have the graphics displayed on their desktops. The software is a set of Cygwin packages that have been installed and altered to run from CD, the Wizard's Apprentice and a few scripts that tie things together and provide the illusion that the XLiveCD is an application.
  • XORP Live CD
    The Live CD serves a number of purposes: It's an easy way to try out XORP (an eXtensible Open Router Platform) without needing to compile anything or reformat the disk on your PC. It's a quick way to get a relatively secure router on demand.
  • ZeroShell
    ZeroShell is web administrable and aimed at providing the main network services a LAN requires: Kerberos and x.509 authentication, LDAP and RADIUS authorization, routing, bridging, VLAN 802.1q management, VPN lan-to-lan and host-To-lan, support for authenticated WI-FI access with WPA and WPA2, DNS and dhcp server, Captive Portal to access to the network using weblogin (Internet Hotspot). The image size is 103MB. The distribution is produced directly from the source code of any installed packages.
