Little thin client runs Linux
The Italian firm CompuMaster has introduced a compact thin client that runs Linux. The "Praim Ino" can be mounted on the back of a monitor, draws just six Watts, and comes with a variety of client software, the company says.

Kate is a multi document editor, based on a rewritten version of the kwrite editing widget of KDE, offering all the features of that plus a bunch of its own. Kate has been been moved to the kdebase package, and is a builtin part of your favorite desktop since release 2.2. Being a native KDE application, Kate is of course born with networking transparency, as well as it integrates with the outstanding features of KDE.     Amarok Live is a stripped down LiveCD with a fully functional Amarok music player bundled with the tracks commissioned by Wired Magazine, which are distributed under the Creative Commons Sampling Licenses. It includes - among other major artists - tracks by the Beastie Boys and David Byrne.

    GeeXboX is a full operating system, running under Linux and based on the excellent MPlayer. No need of hard drive, you just have to put the GeeXboX bootable CD into the CD-Drive of any pentium-class computer to boot it.

    Jollix features Kudzu hardware detection, optimised for i686 architecture, multimedia applications, and is based on Gentoo.

    KnoppMyth is an attempt at making the Linux and MythTV installation as trivial as possible.
  • LiMP
    Linux Multimedia Player is another tiny Linux based OS. It converts your computer into a multimedia player. It supports most of the known formats, including mpeg-I, or mpeg-II, divx, and wmv. It has the auto detection of partitions (ide or sata or scsi), sound cards, video cards, network cards and supports all the the cards as of kernel 2.6.13. It identifies the Partitions and mounts in the folder START. It has the network support, which can be configured inside the GUI. All in a embedded image file of size 35 MB.

    Mediainlinux is a complete Linux distribution targeted at multimedia production, which is a Live cd (knoppix derived) containing more than 200 graphical application and thousands of command line tools for: Acquisition, Conversion, Editing, Compression and Post Production.
  • Musix GNU+Linux
    Musix GNU+Linux is intended for musicians and all kind of users. It contains an enormous collection of free programs. The system will boot from your CD/DVD drive, with no need to install anything on your hard disk.
  • Myrinix
    Myrinix is meant to be a smart and centralized OS that can be implemented in a home environment. It can be connected to a TV or other large screen to record and play DVD movies and surf the Internet. It also implements video sharing with the NX technology, and includes the videolan program for broadcasting video or music throughout the network. Diskless client computers can connect with the server as it performs other tasks. My Knoppix - Digital Home Edition is a bootable CD derived from Knoppix 3.9.
  • MythDora
    MythDora is a Fedora Core and MythTV "All-In-One" CD/DVD. The install will load a preconfigured Fedora Core 6 installation on your computer as well as install and configure MythTV-0.20-1. There are extras included with MythDora such as MythArchive, MediaMVP and MythStreamTV for some extra fun.
  • Oralux
    Audio GNU/Linux distro for vision impaired persons. Oralux hopes to facilitate access to GNU/Linux for the vision impaired people.
  • Photo-ix
    A new Morphix derivative. The aim is to turn a really-low specfication laptop into a digital photo-viewer.
  • StreamBOX-LiveCD
    StreamBOX-LiveCD is a selfmade, KNOPPIX based Boot-CD, which is specially designed to stream MP3. Also there are some programs to stream in the OGG-Vorbis-Format.

    StudioGo is a complete entertainment system with various multimedia and graphics tools to create, edit or play.
  • WOMP!
    WOMP! is a micro linux distribution focused on multimedia, which takes only 13 to 30 MB depending on the selected options on a bootable CD, and allows playing a wide range of multimedia files (video/audio/image) without installing any software on the computer's hard drive.
  • X-Evian
    X-Evian is a Spanish DebianGNU/Linux operating system compilation that comes with 300Mb of copyleft material for the socialization of knowledge and technologies.
