The release of quality commercial titles such as Left 4 Dead 2, Portal, and Day of Defeat bring real credibility to Linux as a first-class gaming platform. The bid to lure gamers away from Microsoft's platform has also been strengthened, in part, due to the official launch of Steam for the Linux operating system back on February 14.

    Kinneret is a Knoppix based distro for Israeli students.

    KnoSciences is a Knoppix bootable CD with a collection of GNU/Linux software, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals. It is not necessary to install anything.
  • Kuliax
    Kuliax is designed for education in university. It has many applications and system services for computing in a campus environment, especially for information and technology related departments. Kuliax is based on Debian GNU/Linux testing/unstable and KNOPPIX.
  • KursLinux
    KursLinux is a Swedish distribution focusing on educational tools.
  • Qiko Junior
    Qiko Junior was created for young people (from 3 to 13 years old), and is based on QiLinux.
  • Qimo 4 Kids
    Qimo 4 Kids is a Ubuntu-based distribution, similar to Edubuntu, but a bit more visually attractive to youngsters.
  • Quantian
    Quantian is a remastering of Knoppix, the self-configuring and directly bootable cdrom/dvd that turns any pc or laptop (provided it can boot from cdrom/dvd) into a full-featured Linux workstation. Recent versions of Quantian are based on clusterKnoppix and add support for openMosix, including remote booting of light clients in an openMosix terminal server context. It is a Knoppix / Debian variant tailored to numerical and quantitative analysis.
  • Shabdix GNU/Linux
    Shabdix GNU/Linux is a live CD based on the KNOPPIX live CD distribution with modifications for the Iranian user.
  • Skolelinux
    Skolelinux (aka debian-edu) is a custom Debian distribution.
  • Tadpole Linux
    Tadpole Linux is a live CD distribution aimed toward K-6 elementary school students. It is based on Gentoo and features the KDE desktop.
  • Ubuntu Christian Edition
    Ubuntu Christian Edition is a free, open source operating system geared towards Christians. It is based on the popular Ubuntu Linux. Ubuntu Christian Edition includes more than 16,000 pieces of software, but the core desktop installation fits on a single CD. Read more

    USU is a Linux distribution developed in Bulgaria. It is based on the latest version of Ubuntu, and uses GNOME desktop environment. It's primary goal is to be useful in the educational sphere - for students and teachers, but it has many features which make it useful at home for multimedia, Internet etc.
